A new training and testing rig has been constructed and set-up at the UCS Offices. This test rig is a huge stride for UCS, as it enables us to provide a much higher level of training to the team on a variety of platforms. No longer is training bound by visual representations on a laptop, and site visits, but now the team can achieve practical experience on PLC software and Motor Control from the comfort of the office, in a stress-free environment.
The test rig is equipped with both a Siemens 319F CPU, allowing for training on Simatic Manager for both standard programming and Safety programming. It is also equipped with a Siemens 1500 CPU to allow for programming with the newer Siemens TIA Portal.
Greater still, is that the test rig is fully equipped with Lenze VSD drives (9400, 8400 Protec, 8400 Motec), and a servo motor. This provides ample opportunity for the team to learn new and necessary skills with Lenze. Big thanks to SA Power for providing their support!
Another great function of the rig is its modulatory. The team at Shones Automation was able to design the rig such that a vast array of different devices, from various suppliers, are able to be connected with ease for testing. This will allow UCS to be constantly ahead of the curve, having practical experience with new devices as they become available to the market.
Great job all!
